Week 1 Reflection Gmail and Hotmail, how to create a contact list, Role of technology in Education and learning styles, and learning theories.

My Reflection from week 1
The task for week one was to create a gmail and a Hotmail.
      Steps in doing so:

  • First i went to google chrome, in the searching tab I then searched for www.gmail.com, then when my request was loaded I selected gmail.
  • Then since I did had already created and signed into my gmail, I went right into creating my contact list.
  • In doing so, I clicked on the drop down menu icon.
  • Then I selected contacts.
  • I went on to add my contacts by using the contact group list.
The Challenge I faced while completing this task were:
  • Finding Contacts
How I overcome this task:

First I was using my phone and I was faced with difficulties in locating contacts. Then I went one YouTube to find the steps on how to create a contact list/group list. then i realize that it was on a computer they were showing how to complete this task. Then I logged into my gmail via my laptop, then I followed the instructions that were given in doing so then I overcome/completed this task.

How will I apply this to everyday life?
In my everyday life I will apply emails/gmail to communicate with my students by sending and receiving information. However there is an advantage of sending an email. When a email has to send to multiple persons, sending individually can be avoided you can just create a group list and send the email and it will receive by everyone.

WEEK 1- Role of Technology and Media in Education
Technology and media plays a significant role in education. It helps teaching and learning more fun, it also helps teachers to develop a good understanding of her students and to enhance learnign. Technology and media changes the learning environment.Technology can be divided into two main categories
1) Old Technology: these are technology which exist in the 20th century, where you had things like books, newspapers, radios and personal computers(typewriters) etc.
2) New Technology: these came into existence in the 21st century, where you have Bluetooth, ipod, Mozilla Firefox, Skype and Facebook. Of course there is more! but there is where I'm going to stop.

However in media I noticed that it is divided into six (6) categories you have text, objects, people, visual, audio and videos.

Challenges faced :
I had no challenges with technology and media because I was born a native immigrant where i was brought up with technology and media and how to understand and operate them.

Technology and Media in the classroom will play a vital role by increasing children learning abilities, increase interaction between students and teacher also it can be enjoyable.

Still Continues in week one I learnt that there are different ways in which students learn whether it is by verbal, body movement, or visual. I also learnt that there are four (4) main leaning theories behaviorism, contructivism, cognitivism and social psychological.
